Consultancy
We are at home in large data volumes and provide support and consultancy for the implementation and evolution of large-scale data management and processing solutions. From cloud native technologies to hybrid solutions we design and build stable, secure and cost-effective solutions that keep large data volumes both accessible and safe.
With a combined experience of 30 years in the design and implementation of operational data management and production systems, we design specific solutions for all scales and many domains for deployment in-house, in the cloud or in-between.
Implementation, hosting and operations
We implement services using state-of-the-art, scalable and cloud affine concepts and ensure efficient deployment in the cloud by exploiting elasticity concepts across various cloud providers. We ensure secure and highly available operations through advanced architectures, solid implementation and rigid testing.
We provide hosting for web services including managed database solutions in secure environments with a focus on sustainability and efficiency.
We support service operations from cost estimation to setup and day to day operations support. For reliable operations cost prediction we can employ system modelling and simulation techniques to achieve precise estimation of prices in different environments to support reliable cost optimization solutions.
Data products and services
We produce a selection of earth observation data product types in campaigns and systematically. For sales conditions please check the individual products information. We can also cater for individually tailored or designed product and processing needs.
Our data service ieoto provides functionality for earth observation data search combined with extensive functionality for finding, storing and inventorizing in-situ and IoT data for efficient remote sensing data calibration as well as in-situ data management tasks.
Sentinel-1 Ship Sightings
Ship sightings in Sentinel-1 data enriched with AIS ship information for use in training of statistical and deep learning models for ship detection.

Oil Spill Analysis System COSIWeb2
We support the BSH Oil Forensics group by maintaining the COSIWeb2
(Computerized Oil Spill Identification) software system for oil spill data
analysis and sample comparison. The COSIWeb2 system consists of a backend implemented
in Java and a client frontend that is based on the vue3 framework.

NEC Directive Reporting Tool
We support the German environmental agency in the fulfilling their reporting
duties with respect to the NEC Directive (EU National Emissions reduction Commitments Directive)
towards the EEA. For this project we implemented an integrated data management and report generation tool
with data verification and visualization elements for efficient data assembly and
reporting in the required output formats (Excel).

ESA EOEPCA Processing Building Block Integration
We were selected by ESA and Starion to introduce the Processing Building Block
of EO Exploitation Platform Common Architecture (EOEPCA) into our IEOTO
data service that provides unified access to Earth Observation
and in-situ data. As part of the project we enhanced our service
with hosted processing capabilities using the EOEPCA supported OGC
interfaces and successfully registered with the Network of Resources (NoR).

Hosting and Security Support
We support Clama, a provider of school service applications in their provision of a highly
available, secure and performant environment for their applications and data.
We have been supporting the German Remote Sensing Data Center in the setup
and design of monitoring and operational dashboard views for a long
term data storage service. The informative dashboard views provide insights into the system
status, resource usage and data flow. The dashboard is based on
a combination of open source tools including InfluxDB and Grafana.

Sentinel-2 Next Generation Requirements Engineering
We support Airbus in the context of the Sentinel-2 Next Generation activity
for ESA (European Space Agency) in the definition of Payload Data Ground Segment
requirements. Part of the project is to define the high-level communication architecture
and data flows with the Ground Segment. In this project our deep knowledge of Sentinel-1 and
Sentinel-3 payload data ground segment architectures and data processing workflows is a key asset.

Web service implementation and hosting
For the FH Potsdam we have re-implemented a data management and
presentation system for restoration activity using polymeres (POLYKON).
The project consisted of data migration, service re-implementation with
the development of additional functionality. We are hosting the developed system in our high availability
cluster and provide maintenance and continuous technical support.
We have been chosen by the Umweltbundesamt to host their
web platform for the Roundtable on Marine Litter (https://www.muell-im-meer.de).
The Web platform informs the public on actions and policies around pollution
avoidance and provides the members of the round table a platform to share
and coordinate their activities. Next to the hosting in our high available
cluster and ensure the save operation of the platform. Additionally we
provide technical support where needed.

Data service design, implementation and hosting
Utilizing our expertise in large scale data systems we have designed our IEOTO data service
to support scientists and researchers in finding, storing and maintaining large and
varied data set from
remote sensing and in-situ acquisition. The IEOTO service utilizes state-of-the-art web and cloud technologies including elasticsearch,
Docker/Kubernetes, java spring boot and open source geospatial libraries.
Petabite GmbH is a Software and Service company. The company is led by experienced software architects and developers and project managers with many years of experience. Our main focus lies on mission specific and multi-mission earth observation systems and we have a strong background in the Copernicus Sentinels missions, in particular Sentinel-1 and Sentinel-3.
